Workforce Development

OUR COMMITMENT

  • Bridging labor gaps in a critical industry: The food service sector continues to face staffing challenges, accentuated by post‑COVID shifts that saw many experienced culinary workers leave the field. Programs that equip individuals with culinary, food safety, and customer service training help rebuild a robust, skilled workforce ready to meet local demand.

  • Launching meaningful career pathways: Culinary job training often includes certifications such as ServSafe and hands‑on experience that open doors to careers as chefs, cooks, food service managers, and more  . These pathways create access to living-wage jobs and opportunities for advancement, enhancing individual financial stability.

  • Building community and food equity together: At C&W Market Foundation, culinary workforce development dovetails with our mission of combating food insecurity. By training students, youth, and seniors in food safety, culinary arts, and customer service, we empower them to contribute meaningfully to Evanston’s vibrant food system while strengthening the Foundation’s social impact
